Coordinate, distance and GPS file tools
Convert coordinates between DMS, decimal and UTM, measure distances, view and convert GPX, KML and GeoJSON files and read GPS data from photos — privately in your browser.
Coordinate Converter
Convert lat/lon between decimal degrees, DMS, DDM, UTM, MGRS and Web Mercator, one or many at once.
Distance Calculator
Measure distance between coordinates with haversine or Vincenty, plus bearings, midpoint and path length.
GPX Viewer
Open GPX, KML or GeoJSON tracks, see distance, speed, elevation gain and a profile chart — no map tiles.
Photo GPS Extractor
Read GPS location from photo EXIF, plot it and export CSV, GeoJSON, GPX or KML — photos stay on your device.
Coordinate, distance and GPS file tools that run in your browser
Geo Tools is a small set of practical utilities for anyone who works with locations: hikers and cyclists, surveyors, pilots and sailors, drone pilots, photographers and GIS students. The coordinate converter turns latitude and longitude between decimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds, degrees and decimal minutes, UTM, MGRS and Web Mercator, and it understands messy input: hemisphere letters, degree symbols, decimal commas, even a whole list pasted with one coordinate per line. When you need to know how far apart two places are, the distance calculator measures the shortest route between any number of points with either the fast haversine formula or the more exact Vincenty formula on the WGS 84 ellipsoid, and adds initial and final bearings, midpoints and totals in kilometres, miles, nautical miles, metres or feet.
Got a recorded activity or a planned route? Open it in the GPX viewer. It reads GPX, KML and GeoJSON files, draws the track, marks the start, end and waypoints, and reports distance, duration, moving time, average and maximum speed, elevation gain and loss, and an elevation profile chart. And if you only have photos, the photo GPS extractor reads the location hidden in their EXIF metadata, plots the shooting positions together and exports them as CSV, GeoJSON, GPX or KML.
Private by design, with no map tiles
Location data is personal. A track can show where you live and when you are away, and a photo can reveal the exact spot it was taken. That is why every tool on this site works locally: files are read with your browser, calculations run on your device and nothing is uploaded, stored or sent to a map provider. Instead of loading background tiles from an external service, routes and photo positions are drawn as clean SVG graphics fitted to their bounds, which also means the tools keep working when you are offline once the page has loaded.
The tools are built for accuracy as well as privacy. UTM conversion uses the Krüger series on the WGS 84 ellipsoid, including the special zones around Norway and Svalbard, and MGRS references follow the standard 100 kilometre grid lettering. Vincenty distances are accurate to a fraction of a millimetre for most point pairs, and elevation statistics ignore small GPS noise so the climb figures stay realistic. Pick a tool above, paste or drop your data and get a result in seconds, free and without an account.
